Ever since I have started college, I have been recycling. The fact that there are recycling bins in the dorms and around campus has greatly encouraged me to recycle. What’s even better is that this past summer, my neighborhood has been given recycling bins to use as well. My family and I have been recycling like crazy! Something knew that I’ve been doing recently, is that at the start of every semester, instead of buying all new supplies, I scrounge around my room for any notebooks and other materials that haven’t been used, so that I can use them. Even if a quarter of the notebook has been used, I’ll just rips those pages out, and use the notebook. Also, I have made an effort to reuse things. This past Christmas, I gave my mom a gift that I was given a few Christmases ago by one of my friends. She didn’t notice until I told her, though. Even when my sisters and I go through hair products, I wash the bottles/containers and either throw them in our recycling bin, or keep them for future use. Sometimes, when I need to jot down a little note, I always am sure to use a scrap piece of paper, instead of wasting a small note on a new, fresh sheet of paper that could be used for more useful things. One thing I love about my family is that we constantly rid of junk around the house. We’ll go through our closets and junk stored in the basement in order donate and rid of things we no longer have a use for. Today, I took my entire load of hair, makeup, and fashion magazines, and I’ve been going through them, ripping out pages that I want to keep, so that I can recycle the rest of the magazines. My mom said it was pointless to keep magazines that you’re most likely going to only flip through once, so I might as well keep the pages that I like to look at. I wish I was into recycling a long time ago, because it’s not only addictive, but it also helps the environment!
